About the Role
Darmont GivesBack is seeking a Community Information Officer to serve as a key connector between the organization and the communities it serves. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about community outreach, communications, and supporting marginalized populations across Brant County.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, collect, and maintain up-to-date information on community services, supports, and programs relevant to the populations served by Darmont GivesBack.
- Compile and develop community resource guides, program information sheets, and referral tools.
- Track updates from local agencies, municipalities, and partners to ensure accurate information dissemination.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries from community members, youth, families, and partner organizations.
- Provide clear, accessible information about DGB programs: DGB Connect, Plugged In Brant, R.O.O.T.S., and Afro-CariBrant.
- Attend community events, workshops, and outreach activities to distribute resources and raise awareness.
- Assist in updating website content, event listings, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Prepare informational materials such as flyers, fact sheets, and digital posts.
- Gather community insights, testimonials, and program highlights to support organizational storytelling.
- Maintain organized records of community contacts, partners, and resource inventories.
- Support program staff with administrative tasks related to outreach, communication, and data entry.
- Evaluate community information needs and recommend improvements to existing resources.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in Communications, Social Work, Public Relations, Community Development, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with social media, content creation, or community outreach (paid or volunteer).
- Comfortable working with diverse populations and community organizations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic digital tools including Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
Supervision & Mentorship
Participants will receive daily supervision from an experienced manager with more than two years in a supervisory role. Supervision will combine direct oversight with independent work, and formal written feedback will be provided on a scheduled basis. A dedicated mentor will meet with participants weekly in a one-on-one format, providing career-related training, skills development support, and access to relevant learning materials.
