About the Role
Darmont GivesBack is a not-for-profit organization based in Brant, Ontario, dedicated to improving the well-being of individuals and communities through education, health, equal opportunities, and community giving. We are hiring two Event Coordinators through the Canada Summer Jobs program to support our growing portfolio of community events and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and coordinating events such as community gatherings, workshops, festivals, and cultural celebrations.
- Work with the Programs Director to develop event schedules, timelines, and detailed operational plans.
- Act as a primary point of contact for vendors, sponsors, and stakeholders before, during, and after events.
- Assist in negotiating contracts with vendors and service providers and manage supplier relationships.
- Oversee event day setup, registration, and attendee check-ins.
- Manage event staff, volunteers, and temporary workers, assigning roles and ensuring smooth collaboration.
- Plan and coordinate attendee registration processes, manage RSVPs, and respond to inquiries.
- Assist with budgeting, tracking event expenses, and processing invoices and purchase orders.
- Gather post-event feedback from attendees, vendors, and stakeholders, and assist with post-event reporting.
- Organize event breakdown and cleanup, ensuring all vendors fulfill their responsibilities.

- Technical Skills: Build practical knowledge of event production and coordination tools.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in event planning or coordination (including volunteer or student experience).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems quickly.
- Attention to detail and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
Supervision & Mentorship
Participants will receive daily supervision from an experienced manager with more than two years in a supervisory role. Supervision will combine direct oversight with independent work, and formal written feedback will be provided on a scheduled basis. A dedicated mentor will meet with participants weekly in a one-on-one format, providing career-related training, skills development support, and access to relevant learning materials.
